Do you work with scheduling?
Have you heard of Institutdysten (Battle of the Departments), Slotskampen or The Students’ Day?
(Edited November 9, 2023 - originally, the Battle of the Departments meant no classes from 2 p.m. on May 2, 2024, which after application from Syddanske Studerende is changed to no classes all day with activities from 10 a.m.)
– then we have two pieces of news for you!
First news item: Some collective events will now appear in the schedule
Back in the spring, students who were involved in the planning of Battle of the Departments at SDU Odense expressed a wish to have the event displayed in the students’ timetables in itslearning. The request has been discussed in SAK ADM, SDU’s study administration coordination group which has representation from all faculties and a focus on study administration. SAK ADM has approved the request for events for which the Rector grants the cancellation of teaching for the purpose of explaining the time off from teaching.
At present, this applies to the following two events:
- Annual University Celebration, from 12:00 p.m. and
- Battle of the Departments – see second news item below
What is the procedure?
SDU Student Services coordinates the process. A room will be created for each event, and a scheduler with the necessary rights, with whom SDU Student Services is in dialogue, will book the activity in TimeEdit and assign all SDU students. In this way, the activity will appear in the schedule (calendar) in itslearning.
SDU Student Services will also post an announcement with an introductory text about the event, a link to where the student can read more and information for how the student can opt out of the room by removing the star marking.
After the event has been held, the room in itslearning will be archived.
Second news item: Institutdysten (Battle of the Departments), etc. in 2024
At SDU Odense, the event is called Institutdysten (Battle of the Departments). At other campuses, it is called:
- Slotskampen (SDU Kolding)
- The Students’ Day (SDU Esbjerg, SDU Slagelse and SDU Sønderborg)
It has been agreed between Odense students and SDU’s management that the Battle of the Departments at SDU Odense in 2024 will be held on Thursday 2nd May, and there will be no classes from 10:00 a.m. Clarification of dates for the other campus cities is pending, as the events are typically planned in collaboration with other organisations.
