University Taster Courses: A record number of students sign up

On 25th and 26th October, SDU’s BSc and diploma engineering programmes were visited by young people participating in the University Taster Course. A total of 1,523 young people planned a visit to SDU’s campuses. That was 125 more than in 2022, which also saw an increased interest in the University Taster Course at SDU.
Packed programme on the University Taster Course
The University Taster Courses on 25th and 26th October were two intense days and a unique opportunity for the young participants to try out what studying on one of SDU’s many programmes is like. The Taster Course participants received teaching from researchers, coordinators and academic advisers. They met dedicated students and got to solve tasks on their own and experienced the University as well as the campus city in which they might choose to spend their student life.
On all programmes, the participants attended an academic study programme that gave them an insight into the content and teaching of the programme. Tours of the various cities, communal meals, presentations on how to find student housing, quizzes and fun with the students had also been arranged for them.

Taster Course participants at Law in Esbjerg tried their hand at drafting a bill. It was a fun and interesting challenge, which gave the participants an insight into the complexity of being a law student.
Facts about the University Taster Course
University taster courses are held nationwide and take place each year in week 43. The courses are aimed at all of Denmark’s third-year upper secondary students, second-year students studying for the higher preparatory examination as well as young people taking a gap year. Every year, more than 10,000 young people choose to participate in a University Taster Course. The students apply to visit a university education programme they want to know more about and have the chance to try it out for two or three days.
