About SU

Status of SU study activity autumn 2022

Key facts about SU and the study activity check

Students who are granted an exemption from the Study Board must be aware that the exemption only applies to the programme and not to the State Educational Grant (SU).
In relation to the SU rules, you must not delay your course of study by more than 30 ECTS credits. If you are delayed by more than 30 ECTS credits, your SU will be stopped, regardless of whether you have been granted an exemption from the Study Board in connection with your studies. The student can resume their SU once the delay has been made up.

Study activity control and SU

Twice a year, the study activity check is carried out. The check for autumn 2022 was recently carried out. The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science is responsible for the activity checks. In practice, however, it is the SU Office at SDU that handles applications and inquiries from SDU students received during the party consultation period and afterwards.

Status: Out of 577 students, SU has stopped for 229

SDU's SU Office handles 15,444 SU recipients, and of those, 577 were sampled for checking. The check measures how many SU grant portions the student has used and how many ECTS credits they have passed.

Out of the 577 students, 358 received a party consultation letter, followed by a party consultation period of 14 days.

If a student has been delayed due to illness, council work or other special circumstances, he or she can apply for supplementary SU grant portions.

The SU Office received 138 applications for supplementary grant portions and 89 other inquiries/statements.

A total of 229 students have received a letter stating that their SU has stopped as of 1 November 2022.
