Booklaunch: "Førkrigstid"

War is coming! At any rate, military build-up, conflicts between superpowers, terrorism and cyber-attacks have become part of everyday life in Europe – and therefore in Denmark too. We are preparing for the worst with emergency stockpiles of food, water and batteries. 
But living with the expectation of war is nothing new. *Pre-war* shows how the fear of war and disasters has shaped politics, culture and society from the First World War to the present day. Through both historical and literary examples, the book places today’s concerns in a historical and cultural context, drawing parallels from the interwar period’s fear of a major war, the nuclear threats of the Cold War and the 2000s’ fear of terrorism to today’s apocalyptic scenarios.

At this event, the book’s author, Frederik Forrai Ørskov, will discuss the book’s theme with Christian Jensen, Editor-in-Chief at the newspaper Politiken, and Ludvig Goldschmidt Lyhne, Special Adviser at the danish Ministry of Defence.

Frederik Forrai Ørskov (b. 1991) is a postdoc at the University of Southern Denmark and a historian with a master's thesis on the interwar period, cultural diplomacy, Nazism and Nordic cooperation. He studied at the University of Southern Denmark and Central European University and holds a PhD from the Centre for Nordic Studies at the University of Helsinki.
