Revision of study pages on sdu.dk in progress

SDU Communications has developed new templates for all study-related pages on sdu.dk (i.e. our marketing platform targeting potential students). The purpose is to communicate more effectively with our target audience, so that we speak more directly to those considering a degree at SDU.At the Faculty of Humanities, we are currently focusing on the bachelor’s programme pages, which will be updated with revised texts, new content and an improved structure.

Based on the Humanities’ model for optimal recruitment
This project is guided by the Faculty of Humanities’ model for optimal student recruitment, which is informed by research into what influences young people’s educational choices and their successful transition to university life. The model highlights three key factors: self-efficacy (the belief in one’s ability to meet challenges), belonging (the feeling of being part of a community) and meaningfulness (the ability to see the value and relevance of what you will learn). These factors shape how we prioritise and present content on the new pages.

Three key focus areas
HUM Communication is responsible for adapting all current Humanities study pages to the new structure. The work centres around three main areas:·
  • New texts and content – putting the audience first
We are revising and prioritising content from an outside-in perspective, focusing on what students find meaningful, rather than what we think we should tell them. This approach is based on user research and insights into our target audience. We place particular emphasis on the key factor belonging and expectation management, while also clarifying career paths through alumni portraits. Short films will be produced to present the programme content, share student experiences and support young people’s decision-making by promoting self-efficacy, belonging and meaningfulness. Our ambition is for all programmes to feature new films and alumni portraits, although this depends on contributions from both current and former students.

  • Improved structure and user experience making information easy to find
The pages should provide clear and accessible information about bachelor’s programmes, enabling users to make informed decisions. The new structure aims to ensure that key information is logically placed and easy to locate, so users can quickly find answers to their questions. Many of the current pages contain a lot of text and require multiple clicks to access essential details, such as programme options. The revised layout will offer a better overview and clearer decision support – both for those exploring possibilities and those ready to decide.

  • Enhanced visibility through search engine optimisation (SEO)
Today, visibility is not just about ranking well on Google. Increasingly, users don’t visit our pages directly but rely on AI services to summarise the information for them. In both cases, targeted SEO is essential to reaching our audience.Following this project, we will continue to refine our use of keywords and phrases to improve page ranking, ensuring our programmes appear in relevant searches in competition with other universities.
Step-by-step progress throughout autumn and winter
This is a major undertaking, and it will be completed gradually. As each programme is finalised, the relevant head of studies will be informed. The project will progress step-by-step throughout the autumn and winter, with the bachelor’s pages scheduled to be ready in time for the upcoming admissions campaign.
