The facility was designed as a field station primarily supporting research and teaching activities at the Department of Biology. The research station is equipped with a lecture room, laboratories, and accommodation facilities.
The lecture room is equipped with a projector.
All rooms are provided with duvets, pillows, bed linen, and towels.
There are extra towels and bed linen in the linen room.
There are tables and benches on the terrace.
There are PDS sockets in the teaching rooms and wireless network access throughout the house.
The pantry kitchen is equipped with two industrial refrigerators and other standard kitchen equipment: three coffee machines, two electric kettles, an oven, a combi oven, a stove, a dishwasher, and a small freezer.
Additionally, there are tea towels and dishcloths, as well as tableware for 80 people.
Six of the research station's rooms have their own bathrooms, while two rooms have access to a shared bathroom in the hallway. The remaining 12 rooms share bathrooms in pairs.
There are also lavatories on the ground floor.
The research station includes an analysis laboratory, a wet laboratory, and two dry laboratories.
In the analysis laboratory, there is a pH meter, a spectrophotometer, a scale, and various pipettes. The cupboards contain various glass and plastic items: BOD bottles, beakers, measuring cylinders, flasks, Winkler bottles, and funnels. There is also a dishwasher in the laboratory.
In the wet laboratory, there is a muffle furnace and a drying oven. The cupboards contain a stock of disposable items.
In the two dry laboratories, there are stereomicroscopes and microscopes.

The Bikuben Foundation acquired Svanninge Bjerge between 2005 and 2008, and Høbbet in 2013. The foundation's vision is to create a 'natural and landscape historical monument'.
In Svanninge Bjerge, you have the opportunity to experience the forest's wildlife and plant life up close all year round and gain insight into the landscape's fascinating history, shaped by ancient ice masses.
Access to the area
Svanninge Bjerge is managed and owned by the Bikuben Foundation. You are welcome to visit the area, but please be aware that you must follow the rules for access to privately owned forests.
For larger groups (more than 25 people), the person responsible for the event must contact the Bikuben Foundation well in advance via e-mail at info@bikubenfonden.dk to obtain permission for activities in the area.
As this is a private forest, other considerations must be taken into account, including research and overall visitor pressure, and it may be necessary to obtain a special permit for specific activities in the area.
