Use of the Svanninge Bjerge Research Station is free for all SDU employees. However, the research station may only be used for activities that are part of SDU's regular operations – education, research, and dissemination – and must have an SDU employee as the responsible organiser. The SDU employee in question must ensure that the rules for using the research station are followed.
Priority of usage rights

- Other SDU activities
For conferences with external participants and other meeting activities that resemble conference and hotel stays, please refer to SDU's agreements for conference facilities.
- The Department of Biology manages bookings of the research station for the department's own activities. Technical Services handles booking for activities from other SDU departments.
- The following cut-off dates and periods apply to bookings made by Technical Services for other SDU departments. Bookings can be made up to six months in advance; the period is adjusted every two months.

- 1 March to 31 August
- 1 May to 31 October
- 1 July to 31 December
- 1 September to 28 February
- 1 November to 30 April
- Room 1 is reserved for staff at the Department of Biology and can only be booked by other SDU employees by prior agreement with the Department of Biology.
- Rooms 2 and 3 are reserved for Bikuben Foundation staff.
- The wet laboratories and the office (booking group A) can only be booked by staff at the Department of Biology.
The building is open to guests accompanied by an SDU employee.
Each guest must be registered as a guest in the SDU employee's department.
You can access the building through the main door on the ground floor or the first-floor door via the external staircase. Both are located at the rear of the building.
Deactivate the alarm when you arrive at the building, even if there are people in the Bikuben Foundation area. Follow the instructions you have been given.
Use of rooms
Booked rooms can be occupied after 3.00 p.m. on the day of arrival.
Any faults or deficiencies should be reported immediately to Technical Services via e-mail at 8888@sdu.dk.
Pets are not allowed indoors at the research station.
Service dogs are, of course, an exception.
The building is constructed according to the latest energy standards and is equipped with solar heating and a heat exchanger.
There is no charge for the use of electricity and heating, but please conserve energy. The building operates on reduced consumption when not booked.
SDU has an agreement with ISS for final cleaning of the building. Common areas are cleaned before 8.00 a.m.
If you require additional cleaning during your stay at the research station, you can arrange this separately by contacting Technical Services via e-mail at 8888@sdu.dk.
Use of rooms
Booked rooms can be occupied after 3.00 p.m. on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 9.00 a.m. on the day of departure.
Upon departure, towels and bed linen should be placed in the racks in the corridor.
Leave the building tidy and empty all waste bins. There is a waste station household waste behind the building.
When leaving the building, please ensure that all windows and interior doors are closed, and that the two terrace doors are locked.
Activate the alarm when you depart, even if there are people in the Bikuben Foundation area. Follow the instructions you have been given, and remember to return any access and key cards to where you collected them.
Use of rooms
Rooms must be vacated by 9.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

Special information regarding the use of room 1
Room 1 is primarily reserved for staff at the Department of Biology. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cleaning, heating and ventilation are managed directly through the booking system. If you visit the research station without a prior booking, cleaning will not be arranged, and heating and ventilation will not be activated.
Any cancellations should be made as soon as possible via email to Degree Programme Secretary Pia Mosdal at piam@biology.sdu.dk.
Your staff ID card functions as an access card for the outer doors of the research station.
Instructions for the outer door (including the alarm code), the code for the cupboard in the lecture hall, and key cards for the rooms are provided by Service Assistant Niels Christian With Møller.
Catering orders for courses
Catering for courses offered by the Department of Biology must be ordered via a special form no later than 10 days before the course starts.
Each student must pay a contribution of DKK 100 per day for catering. To set up a payment link, please contact Degree Programme Secretary Pia Mosdal at piam@biology.sdu.dk no later than a month before the course starts.
Catering for other activities
Organisers of other activities are responsible for ordering catering themselves.
Mandatory documentation for participants and purposes should be sent to Purchaser Annette Duus at nette@biology.sdu.dk and Finance Assistant Charlotte Fjelsing Jeppesen at chje@sdu.dk.
Delivery of breakfast
The Department of Biology has a special arrangement with SuperBrugsen Faaborg for the delivery of breakfast, which you must order at least two days in advance.

Delivery of lunch and dinner
The Department of Biology has a special arrangement with Steensgaard Slagterforretning for the delivery of lunch and dinner, which must be ordered at least one week in advance.

Other shopping options
There are several grocery stores and eateries in Faaborg, located about 3-4 km from the research station. The Department of Biology has purchase cards for Coop (SuperBrugsen) and Salling Group (Føtex and Netto), which you can collect from Purchaser Annette Duus or Service Assistant Niels Christian With Møller.
All purchase receipts must be kept, annotated with the account string or course number, and handed over to Purchaser Annette Duus or Service Assistant Niels Christian With Møller when you return the purchase card.
Chemical waste should be returned to SDU in accordance with the regulations for the transport of chemical waste. For further information, please contact Laboratory Technician Rikke Orloff Holm at rikkeh@biology.sdu.dk or Service Assistant Niels Christian With Møller at niels@biology.sdu.dk.
Sediment waste etc. should be handled by agreement with Operations Manager Anders Pedersen via e-mail at ap@bikubenfonden.dk.
You can reserve one of the faculty's company vehicles via the vehicle booking system.
Users of the company vehicles are required to read the rules for vehicle use before driving.
If you have forgotten anything at the research station, please contact Service Assistant Niels Christian With Møller at niels@biology.sdu.dk.
If you find someone else's belongings at the research station, please also contact Niels unless you know the owner and can contact them directly.
You can book the research station by filling out the booking form and sending it to Technical Services at 8888@sdu.dk.
