Overview of credits and pre-approval of credit transfer practices

  • Credits and pre-approval of credit transfer are always granted after a specific professional assessment.

  • Credits and pre-approval of credit transfer can be granted when the subjects are at the same academic level. This means that, as a general rule, credits and pre-approval of credit transfer from bachelor's courses to master's courses are not granted.

  • It is not possible to transfer credit for a master's degree programme to a master's programme and vice versa.

  • A master's thesis that is part of a completed programme cannot be transferred credit for.

  • Pre-approval of credit transfer is only granted for subjects from other Universities Denmark when the ECTS weight is the same. However, block credit can be granted, where, for example, two courses of 7.5 ECTS are transferred credit for as a block of 15 ECTS to another block of 15 ECTS, e.g. if it passes one course of 10 ECTS and one of 5 ECTS. For courses from foreign universities, there is more freedom to accept minor deviations in the ECTS weighting.

  • Credits and pre-approval of credit transfer from other Universities Denmark can be granted for compulsory subjects when there is an overlap in the content and focus of the subjects. For subjects from foreign universities, a minor overlap in the content and focus of the subjects is typically accepted.

  • Credits and pre-approval of credit transfer can be granted for electives when the subject is relevant to the programme in a broader sense and if it can be argued that the elective tones the programme in the desired direction.
