Progress on all of faculty's graduate programmes

14 out of 14 programmes see progress. This is now certain, after the application deadline March 1, when 891 had chosen science as their first priority.

By Mikkel Linnemann Johansson, , 3/21/2024

With 891 first-priority applications, overall there was 61 percent progress for the faculty's 14 Master's degree programmes, compared to last year.

It looks particularly positive for the new English-language Master's degree programme in Data Science at SDU Kolding, which has received 141 first-priority applications.

In Odense, it also looks good for the Danish-language Data Science programme, where 196 first priorities have been received compared to 134 last year.

At the same time, Computer Science has received 116 first priority applications – an increase of 21.

Chemistry is also progressing well, with a doubling compared to last year and landing on 45 first priorities, including 2 for the Environmental Chemistry profile. In addition, 43 have prioritised Medicinal Chemistry, which is an increase of 54 per cent compared to 2023.

Meanwhile, Physics advances slightly from 35 to 37 first-priority applications.

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biomedicine and Computational Biomedicine progress 7, 9 and 18 first-priority applications, respectively, to 30, 58 and 57, respectively, this year.

At Biology we see an increase from 79 to 84, while the 1-year academic extension training programme, Master of Climate Adaptation, goes from 11 to 21.

Applied Mathematics goes from 21 to 37, Mathematics from 17 to 26 and Mathematics-Economics from 15 to 21. The latter administratively belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences, but is offered in a collaboration between the two faculties.

In the same way, Pharmacy is offered together with the Faculty of Health Sciences, where the Master's degree programme belongs  administratively. Pharmacy received 73 first-priority applications last year, while this year the number is 93.

Of these, 72 of the applications are aimed at the natural science profile, Technological Pharmacy, while 19 are aimed at the health science profile, Clinical Pharmacy.

In addition to the first-priority applications mentioned above, the faculty has received hundreds of lower-priority applications. Overall, the faculty has experienced an increase of 82 percent more applications compared to last year.
