Health and safety at IRS and KI: Re-election to the health and safety group and new cooperation agreement

The health and safety group for the Department of Clinical Research (KI) and the Department of Regional Health Research (IRS) will continue with the same employee representatives following the latest health and safety election. At the same time, the new Head of Department at IRS, Mikkel Brabrand, joins the group as health and safety manager, while a new agreement sets out the framework for cooperation on health and safety between SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark.

At IRS and KI, we have brought our health and safety activities together in a joint health and safety committee with representatives from PhD students, academic staff and technical/administrative staff. KI-Lab also has its own health and safety group.

All health and safety representatives were re-elected in the latest election. This means that Cecilie Mølgaard Arildsen will continue to represent PhD students, Sabina Storbjerg Houmøller will continue to represent academic staff, and Nana Olejank Hansen will continue to represent technical/administrative staff. At KI-Lab, Sara Trindkær Nissen will continue as health and safety representative.

There has also been a change on the management side. Mikkel Brabrand is the new Head of Department at IRS and therefore takes on the role of health and safety manager for IRS. At KI, Head of Department Rikke Leth-Larsen will continue as health and safety manager, while Kent Søe is the health and safety manager for KI-Lab.

Close cooperation with the Region of Southern Denmark

Many KI and IRS employees carry out their day-to-day work at the regional hospitals. Health and safety activities therefore do not take place solely within the departments but require close cooperation between SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark.

SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark have now entered into a joint cooperation agreement on health and safety. The agreement sets out the framework and division of responsibilities when employees are employed by one organisation but carry out work in the other. Among other things, it covers cooperation on training and instruction, risk assessment, equipment and the handling of occupational accidents.

What does the health and safety group do?

The health and safety representatives represent employees and act as a link and spokesperson for them on health and safety matters. The group works both proactively to prevent health and safety issues and to address specific issues and action plans.

You are always welcome to contact your health and safety representative if you experience potential or existing health and safety issues or have any questions or suggestions regarding health and safety activities.
