At IRS and KI, we have brought our health and safety activities together in a joint health and safety committee with representatives from laboratory staff, academic staff, PhD students and technical/administrative staff. The two departments are similar in many respects. Among other things, many of our employees carry out their day-to-day work at the regional hospitals. It therefore makes good sense for IRS and KI to work together on health and safety.

At the same time, the close collaboration between SDU and the hospitals places particular demands on health and safety activities. SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark have therefore entered into a joint agreement that sets out the framework for cooperation on health and safety when employees carry out work at the other organisation.

Overall responsibility for health and safety at the departments lies with the two heads of department, Mikkel Brabrand and Rikke Leth-Larsen. KI-Lab covers the research groups at the Department of Clinical Research that have laboratories at the Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU. KI-Lab has its own health and safety manager, appointed by Rikke Leth-Larsen, who has overall responsibility for health and safety.
