Here are the rules for hanging Christmas decorations

December is just around the corner - and it's important to familiarise yourself with the rules for hanging Christmas decorations from Technical Services to ensure fire safety and free escape routes.

Are you one of those who decorate your height-adjustable table with garlands, crawling gnomes and other Christmas decorations? December is just around the corner and many departments have a tradition of making their corridors and office areas more colourful and Christmassy.

Everyone is welcome to do so, but there are a few precautions to take before going all out with artificial reindeer, artificial snow and decorative trees.
In a new section on Technical Services' services page, you can read under Christmas points of attention:
- Christmas decorations are of course allowed. However, please note that you must not block, damage or deactivate active and passive fire protection systems such as sprinklers, fire doors or fire alarms when putting up Christmas decorations, as this can compromise fire safety.

What do I do with the Christmas tree I cut down and brought to the office?

It's actually not allowed to put up Christmas trees in departments, departments or faculties. Each campus can have one in the lobby or in Odense at Campus Square - and this must be taken care of by Technical Services. Each tree's material must comply with EN 1021:1 and EN 1021:2 or equivalent.

The ban is in place to minimise fire risk and ensure free escape routes. Read more on the page about fire considerations.
