Hitting 19 degrees: How to set your thermostat correctly in your office

It’s a good idea to check that the thermostat in your office or workspace is set correctly for a room temperature of 19 degrees, which SDU has decided on where possible.

Due to the current energy and supply situation in Europe, SDU’s Executive Board has decided to follow the recommendations of the Danish Energy Agency and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science to lower the heating of state buildings to 19 degrees Celsius where it is deemed possible and technically suitable.

To ensure that the radiator in your office or workspace heats up to exactly 19 degrees, simply set the thermostat to 2.2.

The numbers on the thermostat represent the desired temperature in 3-degree increments. The number ‘2’ marks a temperature of 17 degrees, whereas ‘3’ means a room temperature of 20 degrees. A setting of 2.2 therefore corresponds to the decided temperature.

The pictures above illustrate how to correctly set the different thermostats at SDU to the 2.2 level.

If you have an electronic thermostat, the mark must be horizontal to set the room temperature to 19 degrees.

If you are having problems adjusting the temperature, please email us at 8888@sdu.dk. Stay tuned on SDUnet, where you will find all available information on the current energy and supply situation.
