Make your pages easy to find - also for AI

Use search engine optimisation (SEO) and AI optimisation (GEO) to make your pages visible - both on Google, in SDU's internal search and in AI responses. Here's a handy checklist.

Tips for searchable pages

SEO and GEO are an important part of good web communication

Although SEO and GEO may sound technical, it's very much about good content, logical structure and understanding user needs. SEO ensures that pages are found in traditional searches, while GEO helps get the content included in AI-generated answers.

When you think strategically about how both Google, SDU's internal search and AI services understand and present your pages, you increase the chance of content being found, clicked on and used.

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation.

It's about improving your site's ranking in both Google and internal search engines. SEO includes optimising content, structure and technical elements so that search engines can easily find, index and understand the content.

What is GEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation.

It's about customising content so it can be used directly in AI answers like Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT. The focus here is on short, concise paragraphs that can stand on their own, clear answers to questions and content that appears credible across sources.

Do you have any questions?

If you have any technical questions, or questions about setup, language etc. please write to the web coordinator at your faculty or SDU Communication - Web. Remember to include the URL and screenshot of the page you need help with.
