- Practice-embedded quality assurance and development
- Follow-up across management levels
- Development of the QA system
Stakeholders within the organisation continuously and systematically follow up on those parts of the quality policy that fall within their areas of responsibility.
Guidelines for the ongoing, practice-focused work are embedded in manuals and annual cycles for the respective stakeholders, based on the shared quality policy. This work includes, among other things:
- Follow-up on key figures and quality indicators
- Evaluation through surveys and analyses
- Quality assurance of study programmes in relation to the goals and standards set out in SDU’s quality policy
Evaluation of study programmes
A core element of the practice-embedded work is the evaluation of both individual educational components and entire study programmes. The evaluation activities are based on the following principle documents:
- Principles for the evaluation of educational components (pdf)
- Principles for the evaluation of entire study programmes with the involvement of external experts (pdf)
Students’ evaluations of entire study programmes are conducted through their responses to the Danish Student Survey.
The university’s overall follow-up process takes place through status meetings and reporting across units and management levels. The process is initiated every other year, allowing for a long-term perspective.
The connection between the different levels is illustrated in the figure below – click to open in full screen:
Content of status meetings
All status meetings across management levels include:
- Follow-up on agreements from the previous status meeting
- Current status of work related to the quality policy, key figures, and strategic initiatives in the area of education
- Strategic analysis based on the current status
- Agreements for the upcoming period
- Evaluation of follow-up processes for education quality

The follow-up process is described in more detail in the Memorandum on SDU’s follow-up on educational quality (pdf).
The quality system frames both the practice-embedded and cross-level follow-up on and development of educational quality.
To ensure that the quality system continues to serve its purpose, it undergoes both ongoing adjustments and systematic reviews. The principles and processes guiding this work are described in the Memorandum on the revision of SDU’s quality assurance system for education programmes (.pdf)
