EPICUR brings together leading European universities in an ambitious partnership shaping the future of higher education. Through joint teaching, research collaboration, and innovative learning formats, the alliance creates new international opportunities for SDU students and staff—across borders, disciplines, and learning modes.

EPICUR Alliance

SDU is part of the EPICUR Alliance (European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions), a network of nine European universities contributing to shaping the future of European higher education.

The partner universities work closely to develop joint educational initiatives, foster research collaboration, and create new opportunities for mobility and knowledge exchange for both academic and administrative staff.

Why EPICUR?

Participation in EPICUR supports SDU’s strategic ambitions to enhance the quality of education, strengthen internationalization, and increase societal impact.

The alliance also provides a framework for experimenting with new teaching formats, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative approaches to address societal challenges across borders. 

Opportunities for SDU Staff

For academic staff, EPICUR offers concrete opportunities to engage internationally. This includes developing and teaching joint courses, participating in innovative teaching formats, and collaborating with colleagues across Europe.

For researchers, EPICUR provides access to international networks and seed funding opportunities that support new collaborations and interdisciplinary research across partner universities.

Through EPICUR, SDU staff can expand their professional networks, develop new partnerships, and contribute to shaping the future of European higher education.

Opportunities for SDU Students

Students have access to a virtual campus with a wide range of courses offered either online, as blended learning (a combination of online and physical attendance) or with physical presence. Through EPICUR, students can get an international profile on their studies and participate in short-term mobility activities.

Outcomes so far

  • EPICUR has established a Virtual Campus that enables students and teachers to collaborate across universities.

    The Virtual Campus brings together digital tools, learning platforms, and collaboration spaces that support joint teaching, online learning, and international group work.

  • The EPICUR Teaching and Learning Centres (TLCs) connect educational developers and pedagogical experts across partner universities.

    The TLCs support the development of innovative teaching formats, international collaboration, and competence development for teachers.

  • EPICUR has supported the development of hybrid classrooms that enable students and teachers to participate both on-site and online simultaneously.

  • EPICUR has developed a joint course catalogue the enables students to apply for a wide range of courses across the alliance. More than 450 Open Courses have been offered via the course catalogue.

  • EPICUR has developed and implemented Integrated Learning Experiences and integrated courses across partner universities.

    These courses embed joint teaching and collaborative activities into existing programmes.

  • EPICUR has expanded opportunities for lifelong learning by developing flexible courses and learning formats aimed at learners beyond traditional degree students.
