Especially about children and young people

All persons who are 15 years or older can, in principle, give consent if it is assessed that the persons can understand information and foresee the consequences of giving consent to the processing of personal data. However, there are some things you need to be aware of if you want to obtain the consent of children or young people.

If you ask for consent from minors between the ages of 15-18, you should consider whether the custodial parent or guardian of the young person should be informed that you have asked for the young person's consent for the processing of personal data. This is especially true when collecting sensitive personal information.

It may be relevant to obtain the consent of the parent or guardian of the young person if it is assessed that it may be difficult for the young person to see the consequences of giving consent.

If you collect data on children under the age of 15, it is generally recommended that you obtain parental or guardian consent for the child's participation. However, there may be quite special situations where it is not necessary. Contact you local GDPR- and information security coordinator if you are in doubt in the specific case.
