How do I tell people that I comply with the GDPR?

When you start processing personal information in your project, you usually need to tell the people you are processing information about (the data subjects) that you are doing so. In this connection you must, among other things, inform the data subjects about the purpose for which you collect the information, how long you keep it and a contact person (the duty to inform).
In some contexts, you may need to briefly assure people that you are complying with the rules – e.g. if you create a website for your research project or in connection with the publication of your research (please note, however, that this cannot replace the duty to inform). You can usually do this with a short statement like this one:

The project is registered in SDU’s internal list and complies with the rules in the General Data Protection Regulation. The project has notification no. XX.XXX

If you have questions in this or other contexts , or if you need help to prepare an information text, you can contact SDU RIO.
