Stationing abroad
All agreements on work-related trips and secondments must be made between the employee and the department. If the stay abroad entails changes to your conditions of employment, SDU HR Employees must be notified so that an updated certificate of employment or a supplement can be made.
Definition
Whether it is a work-related trip or a secondment depends on the length of the trip:
Posting: travelling and staying overnight in the same place for a minimum of 28 days.
Important things to consider before travelling
- Agree on all details with the department and host institution
Before travelling, agree the details of your stay abroad with your line manager and your department.
It is recommended that you agree on who will pay for travel and accommodation costs and whether hourly/daily allowances will be provided during your stay.Contact the host institution and find out if there are any special considerations and if you need a residence and work permit or a visa.
- Check if your stay will affect your personal circumstances
A stay abroad can affect your personal circumstances such as tax, social security, and insurance.It is therefore recommended that you clarify this before departure.

- When all agreements regarding your posting are made, your department must notify SDU HR Employees to obtain a possible contract addendum stating that your place of employment has changed.
