The purpose of SDU's Vehicle Fleet is to reduce the total CO2 emissions associated with the use of SDU’s service vehicles. It will also help free up local resources from operating and managing SDU’s own vehicles, while ensuring a smooth booking and driving experience.
Technical Services is responsible for the operation and administration of the vehicle fleet.
What types of cars are available?
The vehicle fleet consists of regular cars and minibuses.
The vehicle fleet consists of electric, petrol and diesel cars. However, the petrol and diesel cars are gradually being phased out and replaced by electric cars.
In addition, a number of new electric cars have been purchased for the fleet. The new electric cars will gradually become available for booking in the new booking system, Mileage Book.
Cars are available in Odense, Esbjerg, Kolding, Sønderborg, and Slagelse.
Vejle will get a new electrical car before 12 January 2026.
Who can use the vehicle fleet?
The vehicle fleet can be used by:
- All SDU staff with a valid driving licence who are performing work for SDU.
- Non-employees with a valid driving licence can use the vehicles if they have written permission from a level 2 or 3 manager and if the trip serves an official purpose for SDU.
- Students with a valid driving licence may also use the vehicles, provided that the trip serves an academically justified purpose that grants ECTS credits and has been approved by the head of department or equivalent authority.
Is it free to use the vehicle fleet?
It is free for all employees to borrow a car from the SDU Vehcle Fleet. In addition, the vehicle fleet covers expenses for:
- fuel and electricity, provided you use the charging tags and fuel cards available in the cars.
- Pay by Plate with Brobizz, which can be used on the Great Belt Bridge and the Øresund Bridge. Brobizz cannot be used on ferries.
SDU's Vehicle Fleet does not cover expenses for e.g. parking, ferries, foreign tolls etc. These expenses must be paid locally.
