New students and new study programmes

Good to know before study start

Who & what

On 28 July 2023, SDU offered places to a total of 4,635 applicants, which is an increase of 7% compared to 2022. In 2023, vacant places have been offered on 18 bachelor’s programmes. Compared to 2022, SDU Esbjerg and SDU Sønderborg have made significant progress in the number of places offered. SDU Slagelse and SDU Kolding have seen a slight decline, and SDU Odense is on par with last year. Overall, the number of places offered in the Humanities has declined but is at the same level or higher in the other faculties. As from 11 August 2023, 4,087 applicants have accepted their study place.

In 2023, SDU is offering these four bachelor’s programmes for the first time: Law (SDU Esbjerg), Artificial Intelligence (SDU Odense), Software Engineering (SDU Sønderborg) and Electronics (SDU Odense). Enrolment numbers in the programmes shows that the four new pro-grammes have hit the mark and at the same time indicates that with a strong offer and a clear profile we can strengthen applications to our campus cities outside Odense.

On the master’s programmes starting in the autumn of 2023, SDU has offered places to a total of 5,190 applicants. As from 11 August 2023, a total of 3,399 applicants have accepted their study places.

In 2023, SDU also saw a significant increase in the number of applicants from outside the EU. However, the number of applicants from outside the EU who have accepted their offered study place at SDU has increased by only a few percent compared to 2022.
