Waste Sorting and Handling at TEK

Waste is sorted into the fractions for which SDU has set up bins and containers.

Follow the links in the boxes on the right to see how to sort waste at your location, where you can dispose of bulky waste, how to handle hazardous waste, etc.

Also find information about waste rooms and containers at TEK  below.

Hazardous Waste (Chemicals, Bio-waste, Batteries, etc.)

If you are in doubt about handling hazardous waste, contact the person responsible for hazardous waste at your department. You can see who is responsible for waste by following the link in the box on the right.

Remember that rechargeable batteries must be discharged before disposal. You can find guidance on handling and disposing of defective or used batteries in TEK's Safety Guide on Batteries, which can be downloaded here: https://sdunet.dk/en/tek/safety.

Waste Rooms and Outdoor Containers

You can see where waste rooms and containers are located at SDU via the link in the box on the right.

The wasterooms at TEK are unlocked and are therefore accessible 24/7/365, as long as you have access to the buildings.

If you have waste that is too large for the containers in the waste rooms, and the waste cannot be separated into smaller parts, it can be placed in the outdoor containers.

If this is not possible, or if there is no container for your type of waste, please contact Technical Services at 8888@sdu.dk.

It is not permitted to place waste in places other than the dedicated containers and waste rooms, not even temporarily. This is for the sake of hygiene, order, and fire regulations, and thus everyone's safety.

Odense

At TEK Odense, a waste room has been established on the ground floor of TEK-building 42’s southern end, Ø28-607c-1 .
Here you can, among other things, dispose of larger units or quantities of paper and cardboard, residual waste, glass and metal, plastic, used batteries, electronic waste, spray cans, etc.

Outdoor containers are located south of TEK-building 42.

Hazardous waste, e.g. chemicals and used batteries, can be disposed of in the outdoor round Waste Shed C (Ø35-600-1); located east of TEK-building 42.
Please note: All hazardous waste must be labelled correctly. See above about "Hazardous waste".

Users of Dream Lab in the Mærsk-2 building (building 47) can also dispose of used batteries in room Ø21-608-00.
