Apply for funding from MedTech Odense
Are you working on the next breakthrough in health technology? We are now accepting applications from projects that have the potential to help solve challenges in the healthcare system ultimately benefiting patients.
The 2025 pilot calls aim to support, mature, and accelerate projects that are in their very early stages. Currently, a total of DKK 6 million is available to make a difference in 2025, with expectations of additional funding in the coming years. In 2026, new types of calls will be launched to support more mature projects.
The core mission of MedTech Odense is to accelerate the journey from idea to clinic to market for new technological solutions that can create impact in the healthcare system. This requires collaboration between researchers and healthcare professionals. Therefore, priority is given to projects that are based on identified clinical needs and challenges and that have commercial potential.
Professionals from all disciplines are invited to contribute ideas and expertise that can foster the often crucial collaboration across fields, institutions, and key stakeholders.
The application round opens on 20 June and runs until 16 September at 23:59.
Steppingstone towards more
The funds from MedTech Odense should be seen as stepping stones or seed money to mature and develop concrete ideas, solutions, and collaborations across disciplines and stakeholders. The funding is intended to help projects take a step forward on the path from idea to clinic and market.

Applications must be submitted no later than 16 September 2025 at 11:59 PM in Efond.

3 November: Invitation to pitch
Applicants for CONCEPT funding will receive an invitation to pitch to the evaluation committee.

13 November: Pitch
Applicants for CONCEPT funding will pitch to the evaluation committee.

24 November: Application decision
Applicants will receive a decision on whether they will be awarded funding. This applies to both IDEA and CONCEPT funding.
Q&A
IDEA: Applications for the IDEA call will be evaluated through an internal review process by a panel appointed by MedTech Odense.
The panel will consist of reviewers with combined expertise in commercialization, research, clinical practice, and research support.
The panel evaluates the applications and recommends which projects should receive funding to the leadership of MedTech Odense, which makes the final decision.
Projects awarded funding will be notified no later than 24 November 2025.
CONCEPT: Applications to the CONCEPT call will be evaluated internally by a panel of researchers/research experts and healthcare professionals appointed by MedTech Odense.
Applications are assigned to reviewers based on subject-matter expertise and consideration for any conflicts of interest.
Based on the evaluations, applicants with the highest scores will be invited to a pitch session before a selection committee composed of members of the MedTech Odense Steering Group.
Each project team will have 5 minutes to pitch their project followed by 5 minutes of Q&A from the committee. Projects selected for the pitch session will be notified no later than 3 November 2025.
The pitch session is expected to take place on 13 November 2025, between 15:30 and 19:30 at SDU.
Following the pitch session, applicants will receive notification of whether their project has been awarded funding no later than 24 November 2025.
Yes. You are welcome to apply for more than one grant.
In these calls Technology is defined in the broadest sense. But the focus is on solutions that are feasible and, in the long term, commercially scalable within a healthcare context
No, we are not ranking one metric over the other. We consider them equal in the context of these calls. Both are important and within scope for applications to these calls
It depends on the applications we receive. Please come forward with your best proposals and we will try our utmost to fund as many as possible.
No. MedTech Odense and the calls focus on patients in both primary and secondary care – it’s the entire healthcare system that is the target for MedTech Odense.
