Automatic forwarding of email

Automatic forwarding of email poses a security risk to SDU and to the persons whose information SDU processes. The Committee on information security and data protection has therefore decided that from 1 May 2022 automatic forwarding of emails:

  • as a rule is no longer permitted;
  • is allowed in rare cases to email domains included in the tunnel mailing list;
  • should only occur if one’s primary employer allows private email – and that emails automatically forwarded from SDU are placed in a folder labelled ‘private’ (does not apply to employees with dual employment at SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark)

If you have any questions about setting up automatic forwarding of emails from your SDU email account, please contact the Servicedesk. If you have any questions about the decision and its implementation, please contact your local GDPR and/or information security coordinator.

Labelling emails as ‘private’

If you use automatic forwarding of emails you must check your primary emplyer's mail policy
