Here are some of the most used systems that are approved at SDU.
We only print PDF files, so remember to convert your file to PDF format before submitting it for printing. If your file is created in PowerPoint, please select "Save as Adobe PDF", if you have that option.
Resolution
By using the correct DPI, your printed matter will not become grainy and fuzzy. As a starting point, print files must be at least 300 dpi.
For great results, we recommend:
That you use an SDU template, but is there no template for your purpose, please note the following:
- That any text does not go all the way to the edge (some of your text may be cropped when the printed matter is cut to size).
- That the margins are 1.5 – 2 cm on all four sides of your printed matter.
If desired, page numbers can be placed centrally at the bottom of your pages, or you can choose to place them in the corners of your pages.
If the page numbers are placed in the corners, remember to place them alternately left/right on even/odd page numbers.
Please note: The Microsoft Office formats are not intended for graphic use, and we do not assume responsibility for the colours of the final printed matter.
Yes, we are happy to receive your outdated roll-up panels
(with transport bags, please) and cardboard boxes in good condition.
We reuse them for our many internal order deliveries at SDU.
It’s a circular economy and we are proud of that.
When you order a roll-up from us, you have the option of choosing
a recycled cassette. It's cheaper for you and better for the environment.
SDU's information screens are used for information of a general nature but can - depending on the physical location - also be used for targeted communication to defined target groups. You find more information here.
Students at SDU can pay with MobilePay in our webshop.
If you are an employee at SDU, you can see your payment options here.
No, not always. Please note that you are responsible for ensuring that any material sent to the Graphic Center complies with Copydan’s guidelines for copying. Read about the guidelines here.
The Office programmes offer photos taken around SDU that may be freely used. Illustrations or images are inserted by using the T icon, which can also be downloaded from Templafy on the web. Here you will find a more extensive image archive via the Skyfish tab.

If you require e.g. subject-specific images for your presentations, Colourbox is a large image archive that SDU has purchased access to.
All employees can gain full access. Colourbox is free for employees, but as SDU pays a fixed subscription + a fee per download, please only download the images you know you will need. Colourbox content is also copyrighted and must therefore, in most cases, be credited. Colourbox has a detailed FAQ on how to use their images. Gain access to colourbox here.
If you have further questions about copyright, you are welcome to contact the Legal Office.
SDU´s Language Services Unit offers Danish/English translation and proofreading for SDU staff. You find more information here.
follow SDU's design guide, it can easily be changed.
Open a new SDU template from Templafy and import
the old PowerPoint document:
Go to "Home" select "Reuse slides"
and subsequently "New slide".
PDF files imported into Word are automatically converted by the application to a low-resolution image that looks poor in print.
One option for achieving a better result is to convert your Word document to a PDF file, open the file in Adobe Acrobat Pro and add the PDF files to be included in the document by using the ‘Combine Files’ function. Please note that page numbers do not change automatically when files are combined.
If you need to insert a PDF file into a Word document where page numbers must be followed chronologically, unfortunately, there is no quick fix. We recommend converting the PDF file to a high-resolution image and insert the image into a Word document.
Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat.
Click ‘File’ in the top menu and select ‘Export to’,
select ‘Image’ and choose ‘jpeg’ or ‘png’.
In the box that appears on the screen,
click on ‘Settings’ and select ‘Resolution’.
Next, select ‘300 pixel/inch’ and save the file.
Graphic Center can help with video in the form of screen recordings e.g instructional videos for systems and software or graphic animations such as infographics, explainers or other graphic content for use on websites, SoMe or in presentations.
Unfortunately, we cannot help with video production recorded with a camera.
Do you need video or audio for your teaching or research, then "Kuben" has facilities and personnel available for both preparation, recording and editing. Contact Karsten Prinds at kpr@sdu.dk.
SDU’s library provides ISBN numbers.
Contact the library by email and state the following:
Author, title, subtitle, release date and publisher.
Note that ISBN is not a requirement for PhD theses.
You can read more about ISBN here (only in danish)
ISBN is an international system that enables unique identification of publications by assigning a standard book number to each publication that may never be altered or reused for other publications.
You order sign and foils at Technical Services, SDU.

You can order standard SDU business cards in our webshop. The business card is generated based on your contact details in SDU’s system, but you can edit it and add a photo. However, you cannot edit the setup.
We recommend that you use Google Chrome and Firefox.
When raising an order in the webshop, you can choose a delivery date. Please note that we have fixed delivery times for many of our products. For rush jobs, please contact us by email before submitting your order.
Here you can see our delivery and production times and who to contact if you haven’t received your order. It could be a flyer or a loose leaf, depending on the size and whether the paper is printed on both sides.
In our world it is called e.g. A4, A5 or A6 and 4+4 colour, which simply means a standard size on paper with colour printing of four mixed colours (blue, pink, yellow and black).
If the paper is to be folded/bent down the middle, it is called ‘folded’. If your printed matter contains four pages, it is a leaflet. If there are a lot of pages, it might be a magazine.
Our webshop has an overview with illustrations of the products to help you decide where to upload your file.
We can basically print all sizes, but it’s cheapest if you stick to the standard sizes. You can upload a PDF file in our webshop and see the price immediately.
Overview of standard A-formats
A0: 841x1189 mm
A1: 594x841 mm
A2: 420x594 mm
A3: 297x420 mm
A4: 210x297 mm
A5: 148x210 mm
A6: 105x148 mm
Add e.g. two pieces of A4 size paper next to each other, then you have A3 size. If you add the double so that there are now four sheets, then you have the format A2, etc. If you divide your A4 sheet in the middle, then you have the format A5 which in turn can be halved to A6 (postcard size).
We recommend fabric if you need something physical in print. Fabric can be easily folded or rolled up to fit in your suitcase. If the fabric gets creased, it can be ironed at the lowest temperature with a sheet on top.
Yes, all prints on fabrics from SDU are approved and fire-resistant, e.g. roll-ups and banners.
