The following exceptions to the posting requirement apply:
fixed-term employment/re-employment for less than 1 (2) years, cf. Section 9 of the Executive Order on Employment
employment according to Section 7 (search committee/nominations)
employment for external named funds, cf. Section 8
Positions at professor and associate professor level must be advertised internationally, unless special circumstances of an academic nature apply, cf. Section 3.
At SDU, in order to strengthen internationalisation and diversity, there is a requirement for at least three qualified applicants for academic positions. Find more about applicant requirements and exceptions here.
Law on fixed-term employment
According to Section 5, subsection 2 of the Act on fixed-term employment, a position for a fixed-term employee who is engaged in teaching and research can be extended a maximum of two times.
The purpose of the Act on fixed-term employment is, among other things, to establish frameworks seeking to prevent ‘abuse’ in connection with multiple successive fixed-term employment relationships.
Letter of employment/contract
According to the law on contracts of employment and the circular on the employer’s duty to inform the employee of the terms and conditions of employment, the University must provide the employee with information on a number of matters specified by law, which is done in the form of a letter of employment.
The obligation to provide information applies to all employees whose employment lasts more than 1 month and whose average weekly working time exceeds 8 hours. If the employee does not work an average of more than 8 hours per week from the beginning of the employment, the University’s obligation to provide information comes into effect when the employee has worked an average of more than 8 hours per week in the last 4 weeks.
Collective agreements
The Ministry of Finance has entered into a collective agreement with a number of AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) organisations for academics employed by the state. Salary and terms of employment are regulated by the collective agreement for academics in the state.
