It all began with medicine – 60 years of medical education at SDU

The University of Southern Denmark is celebrating its 60th anniversary. To mark the occasion, throughout 2026 we will be focusing on some of the key themes that have their roots in 1966 and which still characterise the university today. This time, the focus is on medicine. In fact, it was the need for more doctors that sparked the establishment of the university. 60 years on, medicine and health continue to play a central role – now with new opportunities for research and innovation at the intersection of medicine and technology.

New date for the closure of SDU’s print shop

The print shop service at the Graphic Centre will continue for a further two months than originally planned, before an external supplier takes over the service on 1 March 2027. The postponement has been decided to ensure a well-tested and smooth transition to the new supplier.

SDU marks its 60th anniversary with new quotes, speeches and cake

On Tuesday 15 September, SDU will mark its 60th anniversary at Campus Odense with new quotes at Interstitiel and speeches at the Campus Square. Cake will be served across the campus.

Three new quotes are ready for Interstitiel

To mark SDU’s 60th anniversary, three new quotes will be added to the staircase area around Interstitiel, the column by sculptor and painter Jørn Larsen in front of SDU’s main entrance.

New EPICUR module on lifelong learning and employability

Teachers can now sign up for a new online module that provides knowledge and practical tools for integrating lifelong learning and employability into their teaching. The module launches on 18 September.
