Welcome to Bridging, Events, and the Outreach Team in SAMF Educational Communication

Here you will meet Mejra, Maria G., and Pernille, who work closely together across the three main areas: bridging, events, and outreach—with strong collaboration across the rest of the department and throughout SDU.

We focus particularly on the student journey leading up to the application. Through our initiatives, we contribute to the recruitment of bachelor’s, master’s, and continuing and further education students.

We create connections between people and educational programs.

We work to make it possible to experience the social science programmes in a way that is accessible, authentic, and engaging.

We do this through activities that place relationships at the center, where there is room for curiosity, questions, and clarification of study choices. Our activities give prospective students the opportunity to experience and get a real sense of student life at SDU. 

The bridge-building activities aim to give high school students and prospective students a realistic and inspiring picture of life as a student at SDU. The activities support a smooth transition from upper secondary education to higher education and help clarify and motivate prospective students in their study choices. Bridge-building is a central part of our recruitment efforts, and the activities are continuously evaluated and further developed. We collaborate with high schools, teachers, and guidance counselors.

Activities we work with

  • Student for a Day. High school students can attend classes, meet university students, and experience the campus atmosphere.
  • High School Collaborations. We establish partnerships with high schools, offering presentations, workshops, and visits.
  • SDU Takeover. Students from SAMF visit high schools together with students from other faculties, taking over the teaching for an entire class. They also share insights about university life – focusing on personal experience and study choices.
  • Academy for Talented Youth (ATU). We coordinate and conduct activities in collaboration with ATU, such as the Introduction Seminar and Inspiration Seminar, aimed at particularly engaged high school students.

Events are an important platform for presenting SAMF’s programs and student environments to both bachelor’s and master’s prospects. Events provide direct contact with our target audience and are a key channel for recruitment and expectation management.

We support the departments with planning, logistics, and communication – covering recruitment, evaluation, and the development of new initiatives.

We coordinate and support the planning of several major events in collaboration with SDU’s central units and the departments:

 

Activities we work with

  • Open House. An annual event for prospective students and their families, offering the opportunity to meet instructors, students, and program leaders.
  • Study Internship. A 2-day program where students from upper secondary schools experience university life and gain insight into both academic and social aspects.
  • Meet the Students Online. Digital Q&A sessions where prospective students can ask questions and gain insight into student life.

Outreach involves proactive engagement and close collaboration with high schools, guidance counselors, and other stakeholders in contact with our target audience. The goal is to ensure awareness of SAMF’s programs and support the decision-making process of prospective students with precise and motivating information. Our approach is strategic and based on data, evaluations, and dialogue. We work to make collaboration easy – and access to our offerings straightforward.

Outreach also covers internal coordination and consultation with departments and units at SDU regarding new initiatives and local needs:

  • Dialogue about collaborations and initiatives
  • Consultation on new target groups or geographic areas
  • Support for participation in fairs and networking activities
