Your application, incl. all materials must be send to the study board no later than 14 days before the meeting where you wish the application processed. Applications received to late will be processed at the following meeting. You can expect to receive a written decision within 14 days after the meeting. Decisions are only communicated in writing and not by telephone or personal contact.

Read more about applications to the study board and find an application form.

In the case of applications for credits and pre-approval of credits, a longer processing time should be calculated, as an opinion must be obtained from the relevant professional responsible for the case. Submitting a merit application within the application deadline is therefore not a guarantee that it can be processed at the next study board meeting.

Pre-approval of electives

Master’s students may only apply for pre-approval of credit transfer for a maximum of two elective courses more than the number of ECTS credits they intend to complete at another programme and/or university. If a student is not admitted to the pre-approved elective courses, a new application for pre-approval of credit transfer may be submitted. Please note, This does not apply for applications for pre-approval of  elective courses at foreign universities.

A list of modules which have been approved as third semester electives by the Academic Study Board can be downloaded here:

Pre-approved electives 2021 (.pdf)
Pre-approval electives 2022 (.pdf)

For pre-approved electives from 2023 and onwards, see SDU's credit database.

Please note that your still need to apply for pre-approval, even though the course is on one of the lists. Furthermore, please note that the lists are only meant as an inspiration and that there is no guarantee that these courses are still being offered.

Pre-approval of project-oriented work (internships):

Guidelines for project-oriented work are available here.

The Study Board's practice in applications for dispensation and credit is described in this document.
