Strategic health and safety work at SDU

Sub-policy on health and safety

The General Occupational Health and Safety Committee has adopted a sub-policy for health and safety work at SDU (only in Danish) with the aim of ensuring a safe, healthy and pleasant working environment for SDU’s employees through systematic and preventive health and safety work.

Vision for health and safety at SDU

In 2018, the General Occupational Health and Safety Committee adopted a vision for health and safety work at SDU (only in Danish) as a principle outline for efforts within preventive, systematic and holistic health and safety work.

Occupational health and safety training and competence plan

The General Occupational Health and Safety Committee has adopted a policy on health and safety competences, which is set out in the competence plan.

Members of the health and safety organisation must complete the mandatory health and safety training within the first three months of their employment. SDU offers occupational health and safety training when it is assessed that there is sufficient demand, which is usually when there is an election to the Occupational Health and Safety Organisation.

SDU has not entered into an agreement on compulsory external occupational health and safety training for new members of the Health and Safety Organisation. It is therefore up to the individual health and safety representative or supervisor to choose the training provider. For sparring in this area, contact the Health and Safety Office at arbejdsmiljoe.sdu.dk.

On the basis of the competence plan and the annual discussion of the General Occupational Health and Safety Committee, an annual competence catalogue is drawn up, which is implemented as a course offer under medarbejderkurser.sdu.dk.

Sustainable health and safety

The University of Southern Denmark aims to be Denmark’s first sustainable university. The Health and Safety Office has prepared a brief on the sustainable health and safety environment at SDU (only in Danish), which makes recommendations on how the health and safety work can contribute to this objective.
