The wording and distribution of the job advertisement is essential to attract a wide field of relevant applicants.

A good advertisement contains information about:

Responsibilities and day-to-day tasks of the position. What sort of framework can applicants expect to work under? What will they be spending their working hours on?

Location and place of work of the position. Where can applicants expect to be working? What characterises the environment and the unit, and how are the connections and collaborations with others at/outside SDU? What is SDU like to work at?

Requirements of the position. What requirements should applicants meet? What are the minimum requirements, and what are desirable qualities? What kind of profile is SDU looking for?

Further process of the position. What are the next steps in the job process? Is shortlisting used? Testing? Interviews? If applications have any questions, who should they contact?

Also decide – preferably when preparing the recruitment plan – where and how to spread awareness of the position. Should a search committee be appointed? Can LinkedIn or social media be used, for example? How should relevant external networks be tipped off?
