All academic positions must be advertised internationally

Positions at professor and associate professor level must be advertised internationally unless special circumstances of an academic nature apply.

If the dean/head of department considers that there are special circumstances which prevent a post from being advertised internationally, a dispensation must be requested from the Rector.

At SDU, postdoctoral and assistant professor positions must also be advertised internationally, so that SDU has the opportunity to attract talent internationally for academic positions at all levels.

Requirements for international job advertisements

It is the responsibility of the dean/head of department to ensure that job advertisements are published in the most relevant Danish and international media, including via academic networks, partner universities, international job databases, etc. It is therefore not sufficient to publish on www.jobs.SDU.dk. The vacancy will be advertised in 1-2 academically relevant job databases and in journals, for example.

All academic vacancies with obligation to conduct research are drawn up in Danish and English. It is for the dean/head of department to decide whether a job advertisement is drawn up exclusively in English.

It is a good idea to include a link to 'WorkinDenmark.dk' in the job advertisement, allowing international applicants to find information about working in Denmark. It is also a good idea to include a link to the information pages of SDU’s International Staff Office.

The attention to international job advertisements for academic positions has been decided by the Board and Executive Board in the context of the cross-cutting strategic action ‘Recruitment and retention of talented academic staff’ as part of the work on increased focus on recruitment of talented academic staff.
