First of all, injuries in connection with the performance of work must always be reported to the injured party’s personnel manager.

Second of all, the injured party and the injured party’s occupational health and safety representative and manager work together to fill in form for internal notification of a work-related injury (Word) Remember to get the department manager to sign the form.

After that, the form must be send to SDU HR, Health and Safety at arbejdskade@sdu.dk, as soon as possible after the incident has occurred. The Occupational Health and Safety Office will then contact the injured party for a more detailed assessment of the extent of the accident.

SDU HR, Health and Safety is responsible for any specific reporting of incidents to Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssikring and/or the Danish Working Environment Authority.

Finally, the internal analysis of the accident process is carried out by the local health and safety group with a view to preventing future accidents. For this purpose, fill in the second part of the form, “Internal investigation of the accident/approach to accident”.

An accident at work is a physical or mental injury that occurs after a work-related incident or a reaction that has occurred suddenly or within five days and that results in personal injury. This includes physical and mental injuries or consequences in connection with work-related incidents of violence, threats and other abusive behaviour outside working hours.

PLEASE NOTE! All work-related incidents of violence, threats and other abusive behaviour – both within and outside working hours – must be reported to the Health and Safety Office.

Tooth or spectacle damage without personal injury incurred in connection with carrying out the work must also be reported to Health and Safety.

Occupational disease is a disease or disorder that occurs after prolonged exposure, for instance, hearing loss or allergy. Occupational disease is not covered by the definition of an occupational accident, and the injured party must therefore consult their own doctor, who has a duty to report the likely connection between illness and work.

In the event of damage to property alone or other damage which has financial consequences, contact the Legal Office under the Rector's Office.

Please also refer to the overview of compensation and insurance questions (only in Danish) for further details.

As a public workplace, SDU is subject to self-insurance requirements. The Ministry of Education and Research handles insurance-related tasks for the universities in the area of occupational injuries. For questions about occupational injury insurance, please refer to the Occupational Health and Safety Office and to a separate insurance overview (only in Danish), which has been jointly prepared by the Rector's Office, Financial Services and SDU HR.

For reasons of data protection, the Health and Safety institute/department asks to process (distribute and store) personal information in accordance with current rules, cf. the Data Protection Ordinance. Documents with sensitive or confidential information may be stored for 30 days in Outlook or other non-secure systems. After that, they must be deleted permanently.
