SDU as a flexible workplace

Pointers set the direction

SDU wants to be an attractive workplace that draws in, develops and retains highly qualified and committed employees. Flexibility is a tool for achieving this. The vision is an active and vibrant workplace, where solving the University’s core tasks, the academic and social community, as well as well-being and flexibility for employees and managers, go hand in hand. The vision is driven by employees and managers demanding and showing great responsibility regarding flexible working. Increased flexibility is also in line with SDU’s desire to contribute to a sustainable soci-ety. A flexible working life has a positive effect on well-being, family life, transport to and from work, travel in connection with work and the overall sustainable use of resources.

See pointers for SDU as a flexible workplace below.

Flexibility for VIP

SDU already has a long-standing tradition of flexibility, including remote working in the academic area, which is managed and developed locally and flexibly.

Flexibility for TAP

SDU wants to develop the organisation towards increased flexibility, including remote working, also in the technical-administrative area.

For technical-administrative employees (TAP staff), ad hoc remote working can be agreed be-tween manager and employee, while permanent recurring remote working requires a local agree-ment as well as an individual agreement between manager and employee. SDU has therefore entered into a local agreement between SDU and the organisations that are entitled to negotiate for and represent SDU’s technical-administrative employees. SDU HR has also prepared a tem-plate for individual agreements on recurring remote working for TAP.

SDU’s Local Agreement and template for individual agreements for TAP ensure that agreements about permanent recurring remote work can be made easily and legally.

See the Local Agreement and the Individual Agreement Template to the right.

Work environment and remote working

The working environment legislation also applies when working remotely – and for all employees, both VIP and TAP. SDU HR, Working Environment and Development have prepared a brief that brings together the most important work environment knowledge in relation to remote working – see below.
