International recruitment
SDU is now certified for SIRI’s fast track scheme
SDU has been certified to apply for residence and work permits for non-EU citizens under the fast track scheme by the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI). The scheme includes employed researchers, TAPs (Technical and Administrative Personnel), and guest researchers.
What does it mean?
- SDU will have a contact person at SIRI.
- The workflow at the International Staff Office (ISO) will change, as ISO will take over a larger part of the application process, gather all necessary information from the prospective employee, and submit the application on behalf of the applicant and SDU. This ensures that all relevant information is submitted with the application.
In practice, the certification does not change the current workflow and deadlines. The processing time and deadlines remain the same, meaning that employment requests must still be sent to SDU HR, Staff at least 2 months before the start of employment.
Quick job start
The fast track scheme includes the possibility of a quick job start, which means that an employee in special cases can start without waiting for the processing time at SIRI.
- Visa-free employees can get a provisional permit to start work by visiting SIRI’s Citizen Center.
- Visa-required employees can get a permit including an entry visa within approximately 10 days.
Important to know regarding quick job start
A quick job start may seem like an attractive solution when hiring an international employee. However, the scheme can only be used in cases where there are compelling reasons for the employee to come to Denmark within a short time.
The advantage of a quick job start is that one can begin work in Denmark earlier. However, it is important to know that the employee typically does not have housing in Denmark on such short notice, cannot get a CPR number, bank account, or tax card, and cannot receive medical care without self-payment until it is possible to register in the Civil Registration System for housing here. Additionally, accompanying family cannot use the scheme and must wait for the regular processing time.
