Career paths for early career reasearchers

As a young researcher, you have promising and numerous job opportunities. You have acquired skills to pursue several different career paths depending on your interests and values. Therefore, the expectation is also that this page is only relevant to you for a shorter period of time - a period that can often be associated with significant job insecurity.

At SDU, we view career development as a practice guided by several actors, where you of course are the main character in driving your own career development.

Below, you will have access to explore four types of career paths. For each career path, there is inspiration for competencies, workplaces, and job titles, as well as a set of tools and activities suggested, each of which can in its own way constitute another step towards your desired job.

SDU's approach to career development is divided into three phases. Firstly, individual self-orientation and learning. Secondly, participation in workshops. Finally, individual career conversations with a coach. Your own orientation and learning, as well as inspiration and training from workshops, qualify your individual career conversation.
